Austin is a former member and past President of the Board of Directors of AURP. In September, 2012, Austin joined North Prairie Developments, a Saskatoon based residential and commercial property developer, as Vice President, Marketing, Commercial Services Division. In November, 2012, the U of Saskatchewan Alumni Association gave Austin the Alumni Achievement Award. In February, 2013, Austin was reappointed to the Board of Directors of the Ontario based Bio Industrial innovation Centre, a National Center of Excellence.

  • In April of 2015 the Government of Canada announced that a new Artic patrol ship will be named in honour of Dr. Brooke in recognition of her heroism during World War II. She is a Member of the Order of the British Empire. The ship will bear the name of the HMCS Margaret Brooke. It is the navy's first vessel ever named after a living Canadian women.

I have completed many buildings throughout Saskatchewan including a few at the UofS, including the Waste Management facility, the Spinks addition to the Chemistry Building, the Agriculture and Agri-food expansion and renovation, the expansion and renovation to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) and InterVac. I am currently the President of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects and was recently named to the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and made an Honorary Life Member of the Saskatoon Construction Association.

  • Christopher Gantela â Ph.D. in Geophysics at 78 Gantela finished a journey that began in 1961. He completed a M.Sc. in geology at Osmania University in India. Dr. Kenneth Burke invited him to University of Saskatchewan as a graduate student and he completed M.Sc. (geophysics) in 1969. He worked in Canada, Algeria, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the United States, as a development geophysicist of seismic data processing. After retirement, he joined University of Houston in 2000 to pursue Ph.D. degree. His dissertation covers determination of subsurface crustal structure on a project called LARSE. He analyzed seismic data off the coast of Los Angeles with a new processing technique developed in the department and found tectonic block of rock strata that had not been previously reported in the area. My greatest achievement was retiring June 30, 2012 which was 2 months into my 60th year of practice. This may not be a record but it was great to help so many customers with questions about their medications.

Along with the Shoah survivors, we were among the nearly 4000 people who attended the official ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation, held at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, in a tent erected at the infamous red-bricked Death Gate.

  • David A. Poulsen's writing career began in earnest when his story The Welcomin' won the 1984 Alberta Culture Short Story Competition. Now the author of more than 20 books, many for middle readers and young adults, David recently completed his Masters degree in Creative Writing at UBC. In 2011 David's young adult novel Numbers was selected for the Sakura Medal (awarded by English speaking high school students in Japan to their favourite novel of the year). As a result David toured International Schools in Japan and Korea in the fall of 2011. His newest novel, Old Man, a YA/Adult crossover novel was launched in January 2013 to excellent reviews from CanLit, CCBC, Quill and Quire and the National Post, among others. David served as the Writer in Residence at the Saskatoon Public Library in 2012/13 and his first adult mystery, Serpents Rising, will appear in the fall of 2014.

  • In recent years during Canada's winter season, Regan has been volunteering as an independent consultant in the city of Ica, Peru, collaborating with local authorities and civil society groups to move forward several large-scale drinking water and sanitation projects that were conceived and designed with Canadian funding and carried out by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) field staff. The rest of the year, during Canada's summer and fall, Regan can be found enjoying life on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, learning and applying basic forest management techniques, puttering around on small projects, making new friends and hopefully keeping out of trouble most of the time!!
  • Regan presently lives and works with WUSC in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. He is involved in promoting water, basic sanitation, environmental recovery and economic development projects with a new civil society association in the city of Ica, where he has worked over the last 25 years. During the northern summer, Regan keeps busy making improvements to his managed forest properties on Manitoulin Island, "the largest freshwater island in the world". Last October, he met up quite accidentally with a fellow UofS alumnus in the hospital on Manitoulin when he needed a minor surgery, and as fate would have it, the attending doctor had also graduated from the UofS on the same date, May 22nd, 1977. Both received their degrees from the hands of former Prime Minister of Canada, John G. Diefenbaker.

  • Celebrated her 100th birthday in July of 2013. A lifelong love of theatre and public speaking was evident throughout her time as a student at the University of Saskatchewan and in the early 1930's she was a recipient of the Bryant Oratorical Competition Award. She married John H. Stevens of Atlanta, GA in 1940 and raised three children. Mr. Stevens ran the advertising agency of Lowe and Stevens, and together they took on leadership positions to build the Southeastern Savoyards (now The Atlanta Lyric Opera.) Mrs. Stevens was both a business woman and an educator. She ran her own fashion company, Fern Moar Fashions. A close friendship with Eva Lovett started a two decade long affiliation with The Lovett School in Atlanta, GA (one of Atlanta's premier private schools) both as an educator and volunteer Her lifelong love of education cumulated in her obtaining a Master's of Education degree from Georgia State University.

  • I retired in 1994 after 39 years of teaching, two in Saskatchewan, and then 37, mainly in Music, in Ontario High Schools in Toronto, Sudbury and Mississauga. I worked 8 years with the Mississauga Arts Council, as well as 12 years with the Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for this latter involvement. My three sisters and I published our Dad's diary after his death. He was Lieut. Leonard B. Corrigan, from Swift Current, who fought with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941. The diary was written all through the nearly four years he was a POW in Hong Kong. If it had ever been discovered, he would have been killed. In 2008, it became part of a full-length book titled "A Hong Kong Diary Revisited - the Family Remembers". The book is still available and has had considerable success at book launches in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

  • On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the London Accord, Canada's Chaplain General, Brigadier General John Fletcher visited a London Retirement Home in order to present a Special Commendation to Rev. J.W. von Schmeling for playing a pivotal role in conversations with the Roman Catholic Military Ordinariate to explore chaplaincy innovations in the provision of chaplain services to the Canadian Armed Forces. He helped bring about the London Accord in 1995, which was the basis for the amalgamation of the two chaplain branches into one unified chaplaincy under the leadership of a single Chaplain General. This historic accord between the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches took place with the aim of providing spiritual support adapted to the faith needs of all members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families. This initiative paved the way for the evolution of the Royal Canadian Chaplain Service into the first multi-faith, tri-service chaplaincy in the NATO Alliance.Since then, the model has been copied by a number of countries around the globe.
