Funded by the McIntyre Family Foundation, the scholarship is open to both graduate and undergraduate students in all three Prairie Provinces studying healthcare-related fields including, but not limited to, medicine, medical research, nursing, physiotherapy, social work, kinesiology and pharmacy. “Healthcare is very important to me, especially here on the prairies” says Eldon McIntyre, founder of the McIntyre Family Foundation. “Grades are important, but we are looking for applicants that have big dreams and the drive and determination to make a difference in the healthcare field.”

Before beginning the McIntyre Family Foundation McIntyre found tremendous success in the oil and gas industry; acting as the president of Jarrod Oils Ltd since its incorporation in 1975. His decades of work and professional success have placed McIntyre in a position to give back to Saskatchewan; one he is happy to occupy. Through the Prairie Healthcare Scholarship, the McIntyre Family Foundation is aiming to provide $400,000 worth of scholarships to students each year. "I can see as a student you may have hardships trying to get into college. If you've got the dream to do it I will help you."
