Donations to the Annual Campaign for Students benefit students in a variety of disciplines across campus

Annual appeal boosts support for students

September marks the beginning of another school year at the University of Saskatchewan, as well as the yearly start of the broadest alumni-focused fundraising appeal – the Annual Campaign for Students. Today, the 2014-15 campaign officially launches with the goal to raise over $1.2 million for students through scholarship and bursary support.

Donations to support scholarships through the Annual Campaign for Students give assistance to students in many different ways — from tuition assistance for those in financial need to recognition for noteworthy academic and artistic achievements.

Shelby Schemenauer, student in the School of Physical Therapy, knows first-hand how important receiving this support is to students.  "Receiving an award makes you more committed to the program and profession, and more motivated to continue with this hard work."  She adds, "It builds confidence because your dedication and keenness are being recognized."

The campaign has been an annual fundraising effort for the university for decades, helping students with tuition assistance and awards, increasing library resources and contributing to college priorities to enhance the learning experience for all students across campus.

Many students who have benefited from the campaign have pledged to return the favour when they graduate.  "The assistance and comfort these gifts provided me inspire me to want to have a similar impact on another's life," says Haven Roy, student in the College of Medicine who received a scholarship last year.
