Campaign for Students: Today here, tomorrow the world

The University of Saskatchewan’s Campaign for Students supports students in need, especially during this time of uncertainty. Our students come from around the world and many are feeling overwhelmed, afraid, and alone right now. With your help, we can provide financial support such as emergency funds for students when they are met with a medical, personal or family crisis.

Many students lost their part-time jobs and are struggling to pay for daily life expenses such as groceries and rent. Others are using outdated technology or are without the required resources such as textbooks due to financial barriers. With campus closed, and students learning from home using online resources; some students are missing the peer connection, and faculty and staff support that comes from being on campus, and the hands-on experiences in classrooms.

With your gift to the Campaign for Students, you are making a difference in the lives of many USask students, whether it’s emotionally, mentally or financially. Your support provides our students with opportunities to take advantage of everything our education system offers. They need someone like you to believe in them as they pursue their academic goals.

Kaitlyn Benko, a fourth-year student in the College of Kinesiology, is one of the many students who has received a scholarship through the Campaign for Students and been impacted by the global pandemic.

“Some of the biggest supports that students will need as we continue to learn through an online platform will involve financial, mental health, social, and overall wellness supports. There will likely be unique stressors arising with online learning amidst a pandemic, so it is important that students’ well-being as a whole is addressed and prioritized to help them best succeed in and out of school,” Benko explained.

Your support helps our students feel more confident and hopeful that they will be able to overcome the struggles during these unprecedented times. When you make your gift to the Campaign for Students, you may choose where you want your gift to go: the Nasser Family Emergency Student Trust, the Resilience Bursary and Scholarships, Donations to the Centennial Fund, and you may also give to the University Library, the Huskies or your college of choice.

The world is a better place with USask graduates in it, and as we make this effort to collectively overcome these challenges, our students will understand the value of giving back to the next generation.
