Appreciation on the summer stage

The annual appreciation event for members of the Greystone Circle, the society that honours individuals for their current and future support of the University of Saskatchewan, took place on June 14, 2013. This exclusive event was hosted in the Greystone Theatre North Studio and guests were treated to a special performance by students from the department of drama. The performance, titled Wet Paint, was written by the students as part of the inaugural "Play in a Day" competition, where groups of drama students were sequestered in various locations in the drama building and tasked with creating a finished play in under 24 hours. Event entertainment was also provided by the Jared Tehse Trio, a student jazz group from the department of music. Guests enjoyed the display of student talent and the students were thrilled to perform for an audience.

In one of her last events as Chancellor, Vera Pezer, who is also the patron member of the Greystone Circle, spoke about her reasons for supporting the U of S. "For me, it's my way of saying the university has been an important part of my life, students have been an important part of my life, and sports have been an important part of my life. We donate because we care." Her estate gift will support female Huskie athletes.

To complete the memorable afternoon, President Ilene Busch-Vishniac addressed Greystone Circle members and thanked them for investing in the future of the university. She noted, "Your support changes the lives of students, researchers and community members. You inspire others with your generosity, and help us improve the economic, social and cultural vitality of our region and beyond. Thank you!"
