USask community honoured with Saskatchewan Order of Merit

Several members of the University of Saskatchewan (USask) community are set to receive the province's highest honour.

Lieutenant Governor W. Thomas Molloy has announced the names of the six new recipients—three of whom are USask alumni—to be invested into the Saskatchewan Order of Merit.

“The 2019 recipients of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit are visionaries who have made extraordinary contributions to our province,” said Molloy, a USask alum who served as the chancellor of the university from 2001 to 2007.

“I congratulate each of them on this well-deserved honour and I thank them for their outstanding leadership.”

The 2019 recipients with connections to USask are:

  • Lyn Goldman, (BA’72, ARTS’73), Regina;
  • Grit McCreath, (BEd’91), Calgary and Waskesiu;
  • Dr. Andy Potter (PhD), former director and CEO of VIDO-Intervac, Saskatoon;
  • William Francis Ready, (BA’48, JD’50), Regina.

This year’s recipients of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit will join the 235 individuals who have previously been invested.
